Essentials
Hi-Speed 500+ Mbps internet, AC, good vibes. Linens, two pillows per person, and bath towels stylishly folded by our excellent housekeepers. Cheap but decent beach towels that are less likely to get stolen are located in the main-floor shared bathroom (We still charge if they go missing). Hair dryers are in each bathroom in case you think humidity hair can be tamed, basic soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toilet paper, and paper towels. Basic cleaning supplies, dishwasher pods, dish soap, and trash bags.
Possible surpluses of leftover bug spray and sun-screen may have been stashed under the sinks by folks who wanted less luggage and more memories to take home. No guarantees, so pack some just in case. Bugs are no joke on the island, "noseeums" are hard to see. "Skin so Soft," essential oil blends, or Deet work about the same, so choose your poison well. Your dog will need a tick guard.

Kitchen
Dishwasher, propane stove top, electric oven, microwave, toaster oven. Fridge & freezer with ice maker, blender, crock pot, electric kettle, coffee maker, pots, and pans. Seafood steamer, dishes, and utensils for adults and kids. Water and wine glasses, coffee mugs. Cooking and baking essentials, basic spices, serving platters, casserole dishes, and cookie sheets.
We know that a home that sleeps twelve people needs more than one fridge. We've stashed an extra one and some pantry shelves down the hall in the closet across from the small bedroom. If you need to use it, plug it in. Some folks load this one with the adult food and beverages and keep the door closed. Others stock it with juice boxes and string cheese for little ones to self-serve and give mom a break.

Safety
Our family motto is "safety third." Heck, our oldest son even has it tattooed on his thigh.
But, VRBO requires we place safety ahead of taking risks and having fun. Therefore, we have provided: a first aid kit, smoke detectors, C02 detectors, subtle humor, and fire extinguishers. There are locking exterior doors and exterior lighting. Lovely framed fire escape routes adorn every room, but you will need to memorize them ahead of time in case one in a million fire starts and smoke inhalation overrides common sense.
Outside we have sturdy posts with marine ropes near the pond to indicate that you shouldn't get too close to the edge. The decorative metal gator reminds folks that all ponds potentially have gators. Never-ever-ever leave food or garbage outside. That is not a joke. A fed gator becomes an aggressive gator, and it will have to be killed.

Laundry
Laundry, it's a never-ending cycle, even on vacation. We have a boring washer, dryer, & iron. Laundry pods and dryer sheets are available for your use.
Unfortunately, "Alexa do the laundry" doesn't work on the island. If you really think you put in all the socks, but come up with singles looking for a sole mate, check the Tupperware drawer. We've heard mismatched socks and missing lids hang out to see if they can make your mom scream. Speaking of mom-remember, she is on vacation too. Learn a new skill, and never use bleach on colors.

Families
High chair, pack-n- play (please bring your own sheets), games, books & puzzles for all ages.
Seriously, let this be a magical stay. Linger at meals, laugh, tell "remember when" stories, and make new memories to recall the next time you visit. Have dedicated screen-free time and make great use of the fantastic game shelf. Declare Daufuskie to be a fight-free, argument-free zone. (Even if someone blocks your settlement building and never trades for ore while playing Catan)!
Take deep breaths, walk the beach daily, hold hands, and make "that thing" that Bob Eubanks talked about on The Newlywed Game show. Explore, wave, visit all the places and buy the stuff. Chat with strangers. Take crazy photos, and hashtag #DaufuskieFamilyRetreat when you post them.

No-No's
We are a smoke-free house with a smoke-free screened-in porch, so please don't be a "butt-head." If you haven't kicked the habit, we won't judge; just kindly do it quite a distance from our home. We want you to have a long life of breathing in the salt air and return again.
We are also a shoe-free home. Please take them off before entering. If you find a better pair on your way out…be quick about it.

Other Important information
Up to two well-behaved dogs of any size are welcome ($100 fee). No other pets are allowed, not even goldfish, pet rocks, or peeves.
All rooms have Smart TVs for you to use your own streaming accounts. If you have trouble, ask your kiddos to help; they already know how to navigate it.
One golf cart is included in your rental, and bikes, if requested ahead of time. Our fantastic rental manager can arrange additional carts if needed.
You must be four years past the legal drinking age (that's 25. I said legal, not when you snuck your first beer) to rent the house. Even if you are young and this is your honeymoon. Sorry, age matters to VRBO. You choose which set of in-laws to bring.

Great Reviews
Please leave your great reviews everywhere. Pretty please submit one on the review page of this website, and on the VRBO Channel, if you book through VRBO.
If there are concerns or issues, we hope to hear about them through a call, text, or message so that we can make sure you have a five-star stay.
We hope you help spread the word and recommend Daufuskie Island and our Vacation Rental to your people. It's a magical place.
We also offer longer-term rentals in the off-season for people who want to spend a few months here in the low season. Most people stay a few months to "test run island life" before buying or building! Reach out if we can help.
Experince the slow place of island life, step back in time and leave the mainland behind.
Our five-bedroom five bathroom vacation home sits in front of a private pond, with plenty of places to sit and take it in to moment. Located in the private and quiet community of Melrose Resort, you are always surrounded by beauty and calm here. It’s a short walk to the ocean and a sunrise stroll easily becomes a daily habit.
