Daufuskie Family Retreat

Our 5 bed/ 5 bath home sleeps 12, includes a golf cart, bikes, beach chairs, laundry room, games, and expansive outdoor living spaces. It is a short walk to the ocean and we are dog friendly!

We want to save you the hassle of renting all the extras; it's all about relaxing and retreating when you choose to stay in our home.

-5 bed/5 bath all en-suite.

The main level has a king master, a queen master, smaller room with a double bed. Upstairs bedroom one with two queen beds, and bedroom two with two double beds. All bathrooms downstairs have a tub and shower. Upstairs bathrooms have showers.

-Covered front porch with rocking chairs, Large BBQ gathering deck with table and chairs. Large propane grill/griddle combo to cook for a large crew. Screened-in back porch with couch and dining table overlooking the back pond. The screened-in back porch is where most people spend their time. Once you sit down, you will understand why.

-The house sits on the best pond in Melrose, and the backyard beckons you to come to sit and relax with the view. Several seating arrangements to gather and make memories or sip your favorite beverage and enjoy the tranquil pond.

 - High-Speed Internet & Smart TVs so you can stream your favorite shows or watch the big game. We do not have cable or satellite

Our vacation home is nestled in the mossy Spanish oaks and pine trees of Melrose Resort. Relax and unwind with your family or friends as you leisurely tour "the island that time forgot" on a golf cart, bike, or comfortable shoes. Honestly, there's no better place for lovely long walks! In less than ten minutes at a slow walking pace, you arrive at the Atlantic Ocean. You have plenty of shorelines to explore, and sunrises are worth taking in.

The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. The resort is the home of a Great White Egret rookery, where you will see these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can be seen now and then, and some lucky visitors can catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.

If you're looking for a low-key beach vacation experience without the crowds and noise, this house will exceed your expectations. You will want to explore the rest of this unique and special island. Accessible only by ferry, Daufuskie's isolation from the hustle and bustle of the mainland provides a one-of-its-kind experience for those looking to truly get away from it all. You step back in time and learn to unwind and relax. We like to think that the soul's pace is finally slowed to where it functions best here on Daufuskie Island. Your family will have the opportunity to connect as you retreat in our beautiful home.

The kitchen will have some updates in Fall 2022; in the meantime, there is an extra refrigerator and pantry space near the laundry room so that you have ample space to bring in your groceries and meals.

NOTE: It is necessary to take a ferry to Daufuskie Island. The cost of boat and ground transportation between the dock and rental is around $75 per person roundtrip. Our rental manager will help you with transportation options that you book separately.
